Let’s not forget oil burns from the deep fryer, shoveling out sludge from the grease trap, trimming ends from snowpeas, mopping the floors in dining rm and kitchen. Mixing strong drinks in the bar, bussing tables, packing to go orders, making 40/ 60 “almond duck”, making BBQ spareribs, cleaning the fish pond…. I guess we were entitled too much. We were working early on our retirement plan. 

I feel deeply indebted to my mom and dad for the opportunities they gave me as a son of Toisan immigrants who succeeded in America. I can say this because as I travel throughout Asia and other developing countries, I see many who will never have the possibilities of a better life as I have been fortunate to enjoy.
